Taylor & I took our first “just the two of us” vacation since our honeymoon and wow was that long overdo. We had a spectacular time exploring Oregon.
Wondering around Portland was so much fun. We hit up the world famous International Rose Garden, explored downtown, stopped several times for coffee, Powell’s Books (a must), beer tastings, Salt & Straw ice-cream and late night crepe’s. Perfect. We stayed in a airbnb called Sugar. Highly recommend them. Portland really is an amazing city filled with warm and inviting people and there’s just tons to do and see.
We then rented a little red convertible and drove down to Bend with pit stops for a hike through a state park and lunch at the Overlook Hotel. This hotel is where The Shining filmed the exterior shots for the movie. Take note though, the interior and hedge maze were filmed on a sound state in the UK so don’t go looking for Room 237. Mount Hood is so majestic and makes an incredible backdrop for the hotel.
We stayed at Brasada Ranch in Bend Oregon and this place is simply perfect. We played bocce ball, hit some golf balls down at the driving range, went horseback riding, treated ourself to a little spa time and enjoyed the best smores you’ve ever tasted around a campfire beneath the milky way.
Well done Oregon. Well done. We’ll definitely be back. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
